Over the last couple of weeks Ive been putting to the test all those pinky purple hues in my collection to see which gives the most Violet bang for your buck.

Best liquid lipcolour

MILANI Lip Intense Lip Color – Violet Addict

I get compliments every time i use this product. Its bright, its pretty and its long lasting and comfortable on the lips. It highly pigmented and glossy and works to also stain the lips.

Most comfortable lip colour

BITE BEAUTY High Pigment Pencil – Violet

Best shade for the faint of heart

Revlon Balm Stain – Whimsical

This is a great shade for someone who is a little reluctant to go full on purple. This shade is sheer and borders on a berry and violet.

Best bang for your buck

SPORTSGIRL POUT ABOUT IT – Violet Crumble

Creamy, crazy pigmented and super affordable. Violet crumble is divine and readily available at your local Sportsgirl store. (i have two)

Best Aussie Brand

SHANGHAI SUZY LIPSTICK – Miss Ally

Miss Ally runs a lot more true purple than the others, but in bright white light you can see a lot of neon violet. Its smooth and the colour is buildable. Its not as pigmented as some as the others but is worth the investment if you’re after WOW lips.

Wildest shade

OCC LIPTAR – Hoochie

Wowsers, in the morning light its super bright and almost neon. By the time the afternoon sunlight comes along its mellowed and is a pretty pink/purple hybrid. ITs not as difficult as i thought it would be to apply and is long lasting.

Best High End

NARS AUDACIOUS LIPSTICK – Angela

I just love this shade. After swatching it for the blog i was devastated to find that the excessive heat of the Australia summer had caused it to snap. I actually bought another almost immediately which is very very rare for me. It looks quite pink in this swatch but is actually leaning on the purple side of pink.

Most universal shade.

MAC Up the Amp

Up the amp is beautiful, glossy but quite muted so that anyone can pull it off. Its not too pigmented that it will over power a simple look but is very pretty and feminine. A google search will show that it looks divine on ladies of all skin shades.

Best Limited Edition Shade.

MAC Dodgy Girl

Isn’t she beautiful, ill never understand why MAC didnt make this part of their permanent collection. I know girls who are still kicking themselves for not getting their hands on it when it was released last year as part of the Kelly Osbourne collection. Dodgy Girl is creamy, pigmented but also muted and very wearable.
