A few weeks ago a new (to me) brand of skin care arrived on my door step to try. As a beauty blogger, I try a lot of skincare out from month to month with a whole lot of claims. Elucent’s only claim is to help reduce the signs of ageing in two simple ways;

Nourishing the skin with a blend of vitamins and using active ingredients to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

The Elucent Anti Ageing range contains a blend of two well known Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs). These ingredients have been proven to accelerate rate of the skins natural exfoliation. As you’re most probably aware exfoliation helps to reveal fresher skin.

Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid work together to both gently exfoliate and moisturise the skin. Glycolic Acid helps to break down and remove the dead skin cells that are bound to skin which not only leaves the skin looking and feeling better but leaves the skin more receptive to moisturising skincare.

Ive been trying the following products from the range exclusively (apart from a Micellar water)

  • Elucent Anti Ageing Gentle Cleanser
  • Elucent Anti Ageing Day Moisturiser
  • Elucent Anti Ageing Eye Cream
  • Elucent Anti Ageing Serum
  • Elucent Anti Ageing Night Moisturiser
  • Elucent Anti Ageing Body Moisturiser

One of my favourite products from the range is the Elucent Anti Ageing Night Moisturiser with with 8% AHAs (pictured above).

The moisturiser is thick and rich and when used in conjunction with other products from this line left my skin feeling hydrated and plumped despite the cold we have been having lately. The Night Moisturiser contains the lowest concentrate of AHAs and is the best product to start with if you have never used any products with AHA’s  to get your skin accustomed to it.

Ive used similar products before so I wasn’t too worried about it so I used the night moisturiser along with the Elucent Anti Ageing Serum which contains 16% AHA. Layering the two together (always layer products from thinnest to thickest) as previously mentioned left my skin feeling soft in the morning

Another one of my favourite products from the range is the Elucent Anti Ageing Body Moisturiser ($34.99). We spend so much time worrying about the signs of ageing on our faces but rarely consider our body. The Body Moisturiser contains contains 12% AHA which helps to get rid of signs of dryness (so essential in winter) and keep things like knees and elbows feeling smoother while making legs and arms (and everywhere else) looking smoother with less lumps and bumps.

One of the features I really appreciated was that the Elucent Anti Ageing Day Moisturiser contained a SPF of 50+ which meant that skin was not only being treated with anti ageing actives throughout the day but also being protected from the ageing effects of UVA and UVB rays.  This is important as  it should be mentioned; protecting your skin while using actives in your skincare is essential as skin may be a little more reactive during this time.

While I am unable to comment on the long term anti ageing performance of the products I can confidently say that the items I trialled did help to keep my skin feeling and looking fresh and exfoliated. My makeup looked good (none of those tell tale signs of dullness or cakeyness that comes with putting makeup over dry or clogged skin) and my face and  body felt nourished and moisturised despite the weather and air conditioning that comes with winter.

Thanks to Elucent for providing these products to me at no cost for reviewing purposes.
