Top 5.. The Rosey Edition!

Roses are the universal flower of love, prized for their beauty and signature scent. Rose oils and essences have been long used to fragrance the baths, homes and bodies of ladies and noble women. Luckily you don’t need to be the socially elite to enjoy the fresh and floral scent.

The secret to long lasting fragrance is to use layers of product to build on the perfume. Here are my top picks to leave you looking, feeling and smelling rosey over the cold months!

Dior Creme De Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm

Including this in my list is cruel, as this little pot of luxury was unfortunately discontinued a little while ago. This is probably my most treasured and sparsely used product just because I know it cant be replaced. It smells divine and makes your lips baby soft. The sweet rose fragrance lasts and lasts. This outshines most of the lip products that are deemed “night repair” or “night treatment” I use it every now and then when I want a nude look on my lip as this imparts only the slightest baby pink look and often before bed when my lips feel like they need a little TLC after a cold winters day. Its a pure delight, the only good thing about it running out is that I will be left with a beautiful little jar to keep precious things in.

I actually managed to find this product just after it was discontinued on a clearance site for $35 but not even strawberrynet has them any more. If youre interested though ask at  your local dior counter as you never know your luck.

I suppose I should offer an alternative to the Dior product. The Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose is pretty and smells great. Its not exactly the same, it is slightly more tinted and visible on the lips and has a fruitier smell than the Dior but is a good alternative.

Lanolips Rose Balm Intense For Very Dry Hands And Nails

This gorgeous rose fragranced hand cream is perfect for winter as it contains shea butter, cocoa seed butter, rose oil and vitamin E. The thick formula not only nourishes the hands and cuticles but also creates a slight barrier against the drying nature of elements. I use this often at night before I go to bed and put on some cotton gloves to help the product absorb. In the morning my hands are super soft and look great. The fragrance is not over powering and very pleasant. I may or may not sneakily smell my hands during the day to see if I can still enjoy the fragrance. Rub it into the cuticles to keep them hydrated and looking good.

Weleda Wild Rose Pampering Body Lotion*

This product was kindly sent to me to try and I’ve really been enjoying it. The fragrance is very natural smelling and lingers on the skin. The lotion itself feels nourishing and keeps the skin feeling hydrated for an extended period of time. I have tried a few Weleda products now and am quite impressed with the quality ingredients used. This lotion contains jojoba oil and witch hazel and claims to be rich in skin-nourishing polyunsaturated fatty acids. Slather this on after a shower (and before jumping into your flannel winter pyjamas to go to bed feeling soft and smelling sweet.

Benetint

Benetint is the original and most widely known lips and cheek tint. Not only does it leave you looking rosey but it is also rose frangranced. It really does feel like you are tinting your skin with pure rose essence. The tint gives my naturally pink pigmented lips more of a glow rather than a tint and looks completely natural. On the cheeks it helps you achieve a natural “just come in from the cold” flush once blended in properly.

Chloe Roses De Chloe Edt

This was a gift to me from husband for my birthday and I have worn almost no other fragrance since it was gifted to me. It is exceptionally hard to describe a fragrance and so I will let the company describe it for me; “It includes fresh notes of bergamot, damask rose and magnolia for a modern touch. After that, white musk and amber linger on the skin” Personally I find the rose fragrance delicate and very feminine. It smells like a walk in a floral garden. While the Rose fragrance is the “top note” here I can also smell the almost sour (can you use a flavour to describe a fragrance? Cos I just did) of the magnolia. I will definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out. Great choice husband!!

And there we go! Its a shame that smellovision (or odornet) has not yet been invented or this would have been the rosiest smelling post you ever would read.
