2015 Best in Beauty Awards

Here we are at the end of 2015 and my collection of beauty bits and bobs has continued to expand at an alarming rate with so many wonderful new releases, repurchases and items sent to me for review.

Ive enjoyed the ride this year, feeling a little more at ease with what I am trying to achieve over here at Lipstick ‘n’ Linguine. We’ve moved address, updated our layout and tried really hard to keep  things looking nice and crisp

So, here is the last post of 2015.  What I have curated here is a collection of all the things that have really caught my attention and proven to be the best of what I own this year. Some bits are new to the world, some are new to me and others have stood the test of time to continue to be my favourite.

Ive posted about most of these products here before so there wont be too much more to say about them but Ill be sure to link these products to their posts so you can get all the details.

Best Foundation ItCosmetics CC+ Cream

itcosmetics skin cover
I used this base product more than any other this year and while not strictly a foundation it served the same purpose. The product goes on smoothly ( I recommend a Beauty Blender) You can read more about it here. ItCosmetics is available exclusively at Sephora in Australia.

Best Eyeshadow Palette – Lorac Pro Palette

lorac

The LORAC Pro Palette is by no means a new eyeshadow palette, but it is in my opinion one of the best ever made and the one I have reached for more than any other. The shadows are buttery smooth, the shades immensely pigmented and blendable and varied enough to be used by all skin tones.

Best primer/base – MAC Strobe Cream

mac stuff

While MAC Strobe Cream is not exclusively a primer it is an excellent product to use under your foundation, mixed in with foundation or used n bare skin to give a beautiful radiance. I love using it to sheer out foundation! You can read more about Strobe cream here.

Best concealer  – Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Corrector

bobbi brown intensive skin serum corrector
Last year I declared my love for the Bobbi Brown Corrector. While I still love it Ive found that the more liquid version works just as well without the cakiness or creeping into fine lines that I found was prevalent with the thicker version.Read more about it here

Favourite Blush _ Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour blush

tarte blush

Theyre pretty, cruelty free and long lasting, there is nothing more to say. Other than check out this post giving more details

Best Brow Product Benefit Gimme Brow and BrowZings

benefit brows
One brand, two products for different looking brows. I just couldn’t choose between them. Gimme Brow is perfect for those looking to plump out brows while also taming stray hairs. Browzings in the perfectly portable little brow kit containing a highly pigmented powder, taming wax, mini tweezers and two mini brushes.

Best body product  – Jergens BB Body balm

jergens

I repurchased this product so many times this year. Not only did it moisturise my body well but it also provided the tiniest amount of coverage which helped to conceal patchy tan and dry spots on my skin. Its readily available in Priceline and at a very affordable price point

Favourite mascara – Benefit Roller Lash

benefit roller ball
Another Benefit product, but finally after years of searching for a mascara that helped my short straight lashes look more instagram worthy. Most mascaras tend to clump my lashes together creating a bit of a mess. This one doesnt! It separates lashes while adding a lovely amount of length and curl. Read more about it here.

Best eyeliner – Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper

tattooliner

The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner has a fine tip, a thin, easy to hold pen and a great formula. The liner does not flake or fade throughout the day and is intensely pigmented for the perfect wing.

Best highlighter – Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector

becca
Beautifully pigmented and a shimmery finish like no other this cult favourite from Becca Cosmetics has been so lusted after this year. Whether you were into the perennial favourite Opal or loved the Jaclyn Hill collaboration of Champagne Pop everyone wanted one of these products. I found that Opal was perfect for all over shimmery loveliness, especially over the lids of the eyes but slightly too dark for usual highlight for me.  Champagne Pop and Moonstone however were perfect to highlight all the high points of my face. Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for a more in depth look at the entire Becca Shimmering line.

Favourite nail art – Pink sprinkle donuts!

donuts final

While I usually focussed on the best nail colour of the year, Ive decided this time to focus on my favourite manicure of the year and in between ombre nails, glitters, stamping,  galaxy nails, dotting and decals I really found that my favourite was one of the easiest. The gorgeous donut sprinkle mani. See more here.

Favourite hair care system _ Bhave

bhave

I fell in love with the bhave range of shampoo and conditioners earlier this year and have come to the end of my stash! Read all about the products here.

Best High End Lipstick – Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme

lemarc3

To die for. From the super luxe packaging, to the super creamy and pigmented long wearing colours. You need these in your life. Read all about them here.

Best drugstore lipstick – Maybelline Color Drama Lip Velvet Pencils

maybelline color drama lip velvet pencils

These lip pencils have unbelievable pigment and a creamy texture. If you haven’t tried these yet I strongly urge you to give them a go because I have a feeling that they may not be part of a permanent range. See all the shades here

Favourite perfume  – Bottega Veneta Knot

bottega

Everything about this fragrance is luxurious, from the heavy glass bottle to the gilded knot on the top.  It clean and very floral (think white flowers like gardenia) while also having quite strong citrus notes.

Best face mask – Origins Drink Up Intensive

origins

I picked this up in Hawaii earlier this year ( read more about my haul here) This mask is one of the best Ive ever tried. Used a few times a week it helps to keep skin supple. I apply a thin layer before bed and wake up with skin ready for makeup! It has a lovely botanical fragrance and a handy tube ( I hate dipping my fingers into skincare)

Favourite in shower product – LUSH Snow Fairy

lush dust
Its  a little unfair to include a limited edition product in this rundown but I was fortunate enough to never run out of this throughout the year ( my christmas stash lasted until I was kindly gifted a couple of bottles at the holiday showcase) Its so sweet and girly and make you feel like you’re bathing in a candy shop.

Favourite multi use skincare  – Bioderma

bioderma

Unless you are a complete beauty newbie you will know about this stuff; part makeup remover, part skin cleanser and skin treatment Bioderma is one of the biggest selling beauty items in France. You can read more about it here.

Best treatment skincare – Alpha H Liquid Gold

alpha h
Liquid Gold is a clear lotion which when applied to the face acts as a chemical exfoliant. You wont see immediate results on the cotton pad (there is no peeling or scraping of skin here) but if left overnight will work to reveal fresher looking skin. Read all about how it works here

Best Make Up Tool _ ItCosmetics Heavenly Luxe Powder brushes

sephora haul 2
Theyre big, fluffy and quite pricey. Find out what I love about them here
There were so many other items I really loved this year but for the sake of your eyes (and my tired fingers) Ill leave it here.  Id love to know which of these items you have loved this year!
Happy New Year everyone!
