The dusty pink mauve lipstick edit
Pink lipsticks are nothing new with hues from soft petal shades and brights that would make Barbie swoon available in a myriad of finishes and price points.
However, without a doubt, the hottest lip of the moment has to be the muted shade of mauve lipstick. Mauve is a difficult shade to describe from soft rose and pinkish grey to deep plummy shades all carrying the name.
My ideal mauve lipstick lies somewhere in the middle. Think soft dusty rosey shades with warm undertones and sheer colour over the lips to deeper, flatter mattes with cool, purple undertones.
Here are some of my favourite rosey and mauve lipstick shades of the moment
While swatches online show this as a super bright pale pink in real life this pink is actually more dusty, muted rose than bright. The Jeffree Starr formula is awesome! It goes on smoothly and super pigmented in one swipe and then dries to a gorgeous long wearing matte. If you like the look of this one you had better be quick as its limited edition for Christmas and is running out fast.
Nars Audacious lipsticks are flawless they’re soft, creamy and pigmented without being drying. Anna is a beautiful smokey rose with cool undertones which leaves towards soft mauve.
By now you must know that I am absolutely in love with Marc Jacobs lipstick. 6 months ago if you had have told me that I would be happy to spend in excess of $40 for a lipstick I would have laughed at you. But these lipsticks are truly a case of you get what you pay for. Not only is the packaging stunning and luxurious but the lipstick themselves are rich and creamy. They’re non drying while being long wearing and matte.
Syrup is described by MAC as rosey plum. It has a lustre finish which means that it is less intense and more glossy than all the other shades Im sharing today. Its a great first step towards the mauve lipstick as its able to be worn sheer or more intensely
Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipstick – Heather
I love Bite Beauty lipsticks but this is my first Butter Cream lipstick. While I’m not a fan of the “hand cut” bullet I do love the resulting soft buttery product in the tube. In arm swatches this looks like the odd one of the bunch with a slight lean towards coral but on the lips its a dusty rose with warm undertones.
I know! Another one from Marc Jacobs beauty! Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a deeper shade than Infamous and is less soft pink and more rosey. Like infamous its a creamy formula with claims of 10 hour wear time
Glace is a long time favourite of mine and one of my first shades that lean towards a mauve lipstick. Its a deep dusty rose mauve that looks a lot less nude on the lip than in the tube.
Live large is quite similar to Nars Anna with more shine. The satin finish helps to create a fuller looking lip with a super comfortable formula. This one is great for those with more mature skin who may be concerned with super matte formulas showing lips lines.
Another limited edition shade. Described as plummy mauve its the darkest of the bunch and leans much more towards plum. This is in limited stocks from Jeffree Star stockists (being sold out on the Jeffree Star website) but don’t fear it is rumoured to be rereleased in early 2016 as part of the permanent range.
