My first ever MAC haul.

What sort of beauty blogger has never walked out of MAC with a black bag full of goodies? Me! that’s who! Well, until recently that is!

I didn’t dislike MAC but the inflated Australian prices and the number of orange, cake faced MAC devotees hanging around the counters at the local shopping malls (let me stress I’m not taking about the staff) kept me from divulging in my makeup lust… and to be honest.. I was a little intimidated by the seemingly too cool for school aura of MAC.

I bit the bullet yesterday and sat down with a gorgeous multi-coloured haired make up artist at the Sydney City Myer store to try a whole bunch of lipsticks and get myself colour matched in foundation as well as try out a whole bunch of different makeup.

I was so impressed that she didn’t really push any product on me at all, very few suggestions were made and she was happy for me to take a while to try on multiple shades of lipstick and was supportive of my decisions. I know this probably seems a little strange but Im sure we have all felt pressured to buy things that we didn’t need or want before and there was none of this at all yesterday!

I walked in with the intention of trying on and buying the very much photographed shade of red “ruby woo” as well as a couple of lipsticks in the fantasy of flowers collection.

I ended up trying multiple shades of red including Russian red and M.A.C red, The fantasy flowers collection lipsticks (dreaming dahlia and snapdragon were my favourites) and some other lipglasses and cremesheen lipglosses.

While i was there i also asked to be colour matched in foundation. I was interested in the studio fix fluid but after looking at my combination skin she suggested I try the studio sculpt. She found “my colour” (there is another post coming up about this because Im not really sure the colour is correct – I’m feeling a bit orange today) and applied it to give me a flawless yet natural finish to my face. IT was topped off with some blush and some highlighter (soft and gentle is just beautiful)  and my face was complete!

Here is the rundown of what i walked away with.

Lustre lipstick in snapdragon
Matte lipstick in Ruby Woo
Satin lipstick in MAC red

Fix + finishing spray

Studio sculpt foundation in NW20

Prolongwear concealer in NW20

I love that I walked out with what I was intending to buy.. no pressure, no extras  just what I wanted (with some changes in formula eg the foundation) I will feel more comfortable in the future going into MAC, although im not so sure this is good for my bank balance.

I haven't done a MAC haul yet either, I just can't bring myself to face the ridiculous markup imposed on Australian buyers. This has inspired me though, my wallet isn't your biggest fan.
