Rimmel is the unashamedly British brand with edgy rock chic attitude and show stopping looks. The name Rimmel has been associated with cosmetics since the 1930s and was established in London.
Rimmels appeal lies in their innovative but no nonsense products and their affordable prices. In my opinion their strengths are their wide range of lip products as well as great staple face and eye products.
One of my favourite ranges is the Wake me Up line which are base products that contain skin brightening properties to help make the wearer look refreshed and skin look moisturised and radiant. This foundation and concealer is well loved by many a beauty guru for these reasons.
The newly released radiance BB cream isn’t labelled as part of the wake me up range however contains a lot of the skin brightening properties of the other products. It gives a radiance with an illuminator built into the formula. You will be pleased yo know that it does not turn you into a glitter bomb (boo) but imparts a subtle glow to your overall complexion.
The lasting finish line is made up of a number of base products and also incorporates some seriously amazing lipsticks. The lasting finish foundation is a long wear product that does not feel dry or cake up thanks to its comfort serum which helps keep the skin moisturised. It’s a medium coverage product which is quite buildable
While Rimmel does great bases they really excell in colour products such as eye and lipcolours
The Scandaleyes Eyeshadow sticks are a cream eyeshadow in pencil form. They’re smooth and easy to blend. Once they set they’re pretty budge proof and do a great job to subtly contour the eye or provide a great pop of colour. Used on their own they provide a wash of colour but they can also be used as a base to help intensify powder shadows.
If you’re a lip junkie like be then you will happy to hear that Rimmel have all sorts of lipcolours from long wear liquid lip colours like the Provocalips to sheerest and more hydrating moisture renew lipsticks.
Standouts from the brand include the Kate Moss Matte finish lipsticks. These lipsticks are super pigmented and long lasting, they work best when the lips are prepped with balm as the long lasting formula can be a drying. They’re not 100% matte but pretty close to it, there are a multitude of shades with some becoming staples of many a girls collection including but not limited to shade 107 which is the perfect Autumn shade
Last years popular release; Apocalips lip laquer now have some matte cousins.. The Apocalips Lip Velvets are creamy and soft and give lips an almost matte finish. Four Autumn appropriate shades were released and all of them are wearable and look super lush on the lips.
Some of my favourite lipcolours of last year (and still remain a fave) were the long wearing Provocalips. There is something so so good about the knowledge that as all of your day to day activities play out your lip colour remains the same as when the day begun. There were 8 shades released from vampy berries to subtle nudes. Special mention to the clear lock in gloss that smells gorgeous and revives and minor wear and tear with very little effort.
Other Rimmel staples that I can recommend include the Scandaleyes liquid liners (above) and exaggerate waterproof liners which help allow those peepers to pop without the risk of smudging and running throughout the day.
Are there any of your Rimmel faves that I’ve left out? I’d love to know what you love from the brand?
