As the year comes to an end it feels like the entire world is breathing a deep sigh of relief. 2016 has been a year hasnt it?

Christmas festivities are coming to an end and the focus shifts towards the new year and in particular ringing in New Year’s Eve in style. Sydney Siders become obsessed with firework vantage points, the perfect outfit and the perfect midnight kiss.

This year my husband and I are skipping all the Sydney side craziness and heading north for a Whitsunday getaway! Sparkly mini dresses and sky high heels are being swapped for floaty maxi dresses and bare feet for the perfect beach side New Year’s Eve party on Hamilton Island.

While we are planning a very relaxed start to 2017 It wouldn’t be a LNL holiday without a little bit of glam. Nothing screams sea side glam like dewey fresh skin, understated “natural” makeup and soft beachy waves with lots of volume and texture.

Unlike Gisele and Blake, beachy, beautiful tousled waves do not happen naturally for me. My shoulder length hair is fine and limp and fairly unruly especially without heat styling. While away at the beach regular hair washing is often forgotten as time soaking up the sun in a hammock takes precedence.

This year I’ll be relying on the range of Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oatmilk to help my hair looking and smelling fresh but also to help style it on New Years Eve. Dry shampoo is one of my staple products to add volume and texture to my fine hair while also keeping it looking clean. The Klorane range (particularly the tinted variety) is my go to for fast and effective texturising.

After washing hair (or at least dampening)  I section my hair and use a twisting motion to create rope like twists that are then pinned loosely close to the scalp and left to dry for roughly an hour ( a great look to rock while hanging out in the hammock) Once dry, I release the pinned hair and use fingers to break up the twists. I spray a generous amounts of Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oatmilk close to the scalp to help absorb any natural oils and inject some volume and lift near the roots. I finish off the look by using a light spray through the lengths of the hair to add more texture before using my fingers to get things tousled and messy looking. Use a light spray of hair spray to lock the look into place.

A thin layer of my favourite base of the year, the ItCosmetics CC+ cream, some highlighter and a slick of lip gloss and my beach New Year’s Eve look is complete!

Regardless of how you spend your New Year’s Eve I hope you have a great one! Happy New Year!
