Nars Virtual Domination cheek palette

Hey guys, I’m here to show (off to) you my most coveted item this year so far. It’s the NARS Virtual Domination palette.

Available exclusively from Sephora this palette is part of the Christmas Limited edition offering from Nars.  Its priced at $US65 and valued to contain $US151 worth of product.

I thought I would give you my first impressions and show you some swatches so you can make a decision of whether it’s for you before it gets totally sold out. At the time of publishing this is still in stock and you Aussie girls can pick up using a shipping service and take advantage of the Black Friday sales.
I hope you find it useful, please don’t hesitate to ask for more information or swatches of a particular colour
Well,  firsts things first..Wow.To say that I am obsessed with this palette is an understatement. It arrived late last week all the way from Texas courtesy of a stateside friend who so generously helped me aquire this LE and Sephora exclusive palette.  Despite it being in a crushed and muddy package (I’m thinking it must have recieved the sort of treatment that recent videos of delivery men has revealed) it was still in pristine condition.

The  packaging is so much more impressive and beautiful in real life with its Lacey detailing and sturdy packaging. The weight and look of this packaging makes it feel and look quite expensive. NARS have skipped the usual black rubberized packaging and gone with a more sqaured off and standard hard, black plastic to encase the palette.

There are 3 blushes included in the shades Deep Throat, Sex Fantasy and Final Cut,  a highlighter in the shade Miss Liberty and the every popular bronzing and contour shade Laguna.

Despite the blush pans looking quite small they must be fairly deep as each one contains 0.15 ounces  of product which is not meager and almost full size (0.16oz) The pan of Laguna in this palette is 0.35oz which is larger than full sized pan which makes this palette great value for money.  For the price of approximately one and half full sized blushes from Mecca ( in Australia) You’re getting a 5 shades of almost full sized product. This fact makes the price of using a forwarding company a little more worth it.
Onto the shades included.
1. Miss Liberty is the highlighting shade in the pan. It looks super sparkly and glittery in the pan which may put you off but when swatched on the finger and skin (see below) this glitter is less apparent and what you see is a sheer wash of powdery sheen. If you look right up close you will see small specks of shimmer but it is far less “scary” on the face than it looks in the pan. You will note that i am fairly pale and this shade does not really swatch any colour on me but in the pan it looks like a light, warm peach tone. This shade is part of the regular line up if you’re interested in buying this shade alone.
2. Sex Fantasy
I often get complimented on blush in the workplace and am usually happy to divulge shades and such except when it comes to Nars blushes!! While i am nowhere near prudish there is something slightly unnerving about telling people you have Sex Fantasy on your cheeks.. But i digress.
Sex Fantasy is a super cool toned light pink. It swatches as quite bright and powdery but blends out nicely to a sheer wash of pink on the cheeks. It has purple leanings in some lights and has a completely matte finish.  This is a limited edition shade.
3. Deep Throat
is a shade that i was considering purchasing as a stand alone product and was one of the reasons that i bought this palette. This shade looks a lot like the ever popular shade Orgasm but with less of the gold shimmer running through it. While it does contain some shimmer it is a little like the little sister of Orgasm.  I really like this shade as it seems to be quite universal and out of all the shades it tends to have the most colour payoff from a single swatch.  As mentioned this is available in the regular offerings from NARS.
4. Final Cut  Is a gorgeous warm, peach toned coral. I love this one  a lot and can see it becoming one of my favourites. It swatches well, with a little powdery fall out but once blended is divine.  In my opinion this is a perfect spring blush that makes the cheeks look radiant. This is a matte finish and is another shade that is limited edition.
4. Laguna
Can you believe that this is my first lot of Laguna? Well, kind of, if you don’t count the one i got in the Nars cheek kit that i hauled here. But i haven’t officially received it yet (it a christmas present) and now that i have it here, plus a brand new Orgasm as part of the Sephora superstars pack i might actually give it away to a family member.
Laguna is supersized here, there is a tonne of the iconic glowy bronzer here and i doubt i will every go through it. Ive never used it before so I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes!
