The best MAC red lipsticks*

Some people have an appreciation for fine red wines, not me!  I am more of a connoisseur of red lipsticks and so to finish off this weeks Lip product focus i thought i would share with you my five favourite red lipsticks from MAC cosmetics.

A mere swipe of red lipstick on an otherwise bare face can instantly add a pop of colour and doll you up with a little retro glamour. From deep berry reds to the bright orange shades there is a hue for every skin tone.

Im a firm believer that every woman can rock a red lip, all it takes is a little confidence and a bit of experimenting to find “your” shade. Here are five of my faves.

All Fired Up  is a gorgeous bright pink red that is a cool tones pop of colour. It is the much loved retro matte formulation which means that it is highly pigmented, long wearing but also a little drying.  Its perfect for those who are still building up to a full red lip as the pink undertones make it super wearable.
Ruby Woo is MACs cult favourite, people either love it or hate it. Its a beautiful blue based red which gives a perfect pin up pout. The super matte formula is the driest of all the MAC lipsticks and can be difficult to work with if you have dry or chapped lips. If you’re after the vintage red lip look this is the one.
Relentlessly red is one of my absolute favourites, similar to all fired up this is a pink red that can be best described as a bright fuchsia. It is a lot smoother and less dry than Ruby Woo as it is  a retro matte formula rather than a super matte one. This shade gives real WOW factor.
MAC red is named after the company and for good reason its a perfect bright blue based red that is closest to my HG red. This is a satin formulation meaning it has some sheen to it but also means that it isn’t as long wearing as the other shades. The blue undertones work for me to whiten my teeth and compliments my skin tone well.
Lady danger is different to the others in that it isn’t pink or blue based which are super wearable but is bright orange based. Some people may find this unwearable but i love it. The warm undertone may not suit everyone so its definitely worth trying on in store. The finish is matte but it is comfortable and long wearing on the lips.

Here are some swatches to show it in artificial white and yellow light as opposed to the natural light in the lip swatches. Top to bottom: Relentlessly red, Ruby Woo, All fired up, MAC red, Lady Danger.

Thanks so much to those of you who have followed this weeks lipstastic journey! Leave me a comment below and let me know your favourite reds.
